The official programme for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony accompanied one of the most symbolic moments of the world’s largest sporting event. More than guiding the audience throughout the performance, the publication needed to express the richness of Brazilian culture while preserving the surprise elements that were central to the ceremony.

From this challenge, we developed an editorial design project that brings together graphic design, illustration and content in a visual narrative inspired by Brazil’s cultural diversity. Traditional and contemporary artistic references, alongside elements drawn from Brazilian craftsmanship, clothing and visual culture, come together to create a publication that is both informative and deeply connected to the experience of the event.

The result is an editorial piece that extends the experience of the ceremony while preserving its narrative beyond the performance. More than documenting an event, the project celebrates Brazil’s diversity, creativity and cultural identity.
