The Rio Planetarium is one of Brazil’s leading institutions dedicated to astronomy, science and public education. As part of a broader institutional renewal, we redesigned its visual identity and created the 50th anniversary identity, both launched during the institution’s anniversary celebrations.
The new identity draws inspiration from patterns of light, celestial movements and the Planetarium’s distinctive architectural form to create a contemporary, modular and versatile graphic system. More than updating the brand, our goal was to develop a visual language that expresses the relationship between science, education, imagination and discovery at the heart of the institution.
The result is an identity system designed to unfold consistently across different expressions, from institutional communication and signage to commemorative materials. The 50th anniversary identity emerges naturally from this system, celebrating the Planetarium’s legacy while reinforcing its commitment to inspiring curiosity and encouraging new generations to explore the universe.
